DUKE IS BACK!  A WELCOME CHANGE...

"Duke is Back".... That's an interesting headline for me to use.  Duke was undefeated and at #2 in the polls until their recent road loss at NC State.  After that game I wasn't worried.    Duke wasn't going undefeated in the ACC.  Nobody will go undefeated in the ACC this year and yes... that includes UVA!  However after the beat down Miami gave Duke to end the nation longest home win streak of 41 games...I was worried.  What bothered me the most was the comments from Miami player Angel Rodriguez after the game.  "We felt like it was a great match up, and they were going to allow us what we wanted to do."  That statement bothered me.  It felt like he was laying out the blueprint to beat Duke.  If a team has fast guards, it really helped.  I tried to spin the back to back losses in a positive way.  I thought... Well...better to hit the wall hard in January than March! January forgives and gives you February 2 regroup.. March never forgives!  Fans all over the message boards were wondering if changes were going to be made by the Duke staff.  If you have followed Duke Basketball over the years, you know K rarely ever plays zone.  Things were not looking good for Duke going to the Yum Center to play Louisville this past Saturday.  Saturday was going to be a start of a new season!  Then came Saturday... I was thinking...Let's turn this ship back in the right direction! #GoDuke #BeatTheCards #DukevsUL...  The time was now!  As the tipoff was under way... the unthinkable happened... K was playing ZONE on defense!  This sent fans, and even the media into shock across the nation...as we saw an energized Duke team playing in what could have been a hostile road environment...but Duke calmed the storm.  Duke ended up beating Louisville by a score of 63-52.  Duke was back!  Social media had it's say on the zone defense and the Duke win.  One of my favorite tweets was by Jay Bilas  "@JayBilas   In one fell swoop, Coach K morphs into Jim Boeheim. After a full game of zone defense, he shall now be known as "Coach K-heim."
After Duke pulled off the win at Louisville I was thinking...
Biggest winner today? Not the fans..not the players.. But Coach K for adapting to use #zone #GoDuke
My other thoughts were...
At times...the thing you resist the most..could become your greatest ally... Shout out to Coach K for adapting to use #zone

Changes were made and Duke was now back sailing in the right direction.  Yesterday Duke hosted Pitt at home and pulled off the win by a score of 79-65.  To quote one fan's poster at the game... "Just a #Pitt stop on the way to 1000!" #999 #GoDuke #Coach1K

Duke now has a 5 day break before travelling to New York to play St John's in what could be Coach K's 1000th win.

The past week has been a roller coaster ride for Duke fans... with back to back losses followed by the use of zone defense and back to back wins.  To sum it all up...  It feels like...

                                                         ORDER HAS BEEN RESTORED.
