Welcome to Duke Sean Obi! Duke just recently landed Sean Obi who is a transfer from Rice. I know Duke fans are excited to see another big man added to the team. From talking with some Cameron Crazies, I can tell the Star Wars theme will be on display over the next few years. Welcome to Duke Obi! I guess K could sense the force was strong with this one!
Click on the link below to get to my latest article for Duke report where I interview "Voice of the Blue Devils" Bob Harris. Bob is the play-by-play announcer for Duke University's men's basketball and football teams.
It has been a good run this year. I was fortunate enough to make 12 Duke Basketball games (working 7 and 5 as a Crazie). I also made 1 Duke Football game. (The win over Miami!) I also made the Inside Duke Basketball clinic put on by the Emily K Center and made it to CTC. I was at ESPN College Game Day for the taping before the UNC game. 2 of the 12 games were ACC Tourney games. Overall, I have been on the road a LOT this fall/winter! People would often say to me..."how do you stay on the road so much, or why do you do it?" To me, a big part of my way of life is being on the road. I grew up in a family that likes to travel, take trips and experience life outside of your normal routine of ...go to work, go home lifestyle. There were some really late nights getting home..but it's a struggle that I would always take on. I would often joke with my friends that my life centers around following Duke Basketball in the winters and Chasing the Endless Summer!
I met a lot of cool people on the road trips ranging from Coach K, players, Cameron Crazies, media, as well as other fans. I want to give a shout out to all the friends who went with me to these games (hope I don't leave anybody out) .... Max, Doughboy, Julian, BJ Davis, Jessica, Jamie, Curtis, Ashley, Cole, Chad, and Keith. Good times and good memories.
Shout out to Duke Report. Shout out to Jim for being a cool friend. Shout out to Chris for the cool pics. Shout out to Shaker for working with us on seeing an inside look as life of a Cameron Crazie. Shout out to Jose the trainer and Dave Bradley of Duke Blue Planet for working with us on the interviews. Last but not least shout out to Coach K and Duke Basketball for giving us fans a fun year. Yes... I'm aware that the team had a "Fast and Furious" exit out of the NCAA Tourney, but still.. after my emotions calmed down...I still Love this team.
Next season is going to be a great one! Duke Football is on the rise. And with Duke Basketball, we have the #1 recruiting class coming in with Okafor, Jones, Winslow, and Allen. Just earlier last week, Duke got a commitment from Luke Kennard. I saw Luke and Grayson play at the Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach back in December. You can see the Duke Report interview with Grayson at the 1st link below. I could tell right away Grayson was very excited to be a Blue Devil. And Congrats to Grayson for winning the McDonalds Dunk Contest this week with that amazing dunk over 7 foot tall upcoming teammate Jahil Okafor! And with the recent presser from Coach K talking about being here the next 5 years..well...that's a GREAT thing! With the off season here, things will surely slow down. Look for a few articles from me at Duke Report over the next few months. Got some cool things planned. Until then, you will find me on some beach, lake or river. Enjoy your summer and GO DUKE!
The slide show of pics below were taken from all the road trips this past season. Shout out again to all the cool people I got to hang with.
Congrats to Wojo on landing the Marquette head coaching job! Wojo had been an assistant coach at Duke from 1999-2014. Good luck to Wojo at Marquette. All Duke fans everywhere...let's slap the floor in Wojo's honor... as he will be missed!
Congrats to Grayson Allen on winning the McDonalds Dunk Contest with a dunk over 7 foot and upcoming teammate Jahil Okafor while wearing the #22 Jay Williams jersey. I guess white men can jump lol! Also congrats to Tyus Jones on winning the skills competition! Looking forward to seeing them in Duke jerseys this fall.
