![]() Today Duke made it official with the announcement that Jon Scheyer will be a special assistant with Duke basketball! Jon will bring a lot to the Duke Basketball program. Like I said in an earlier blog post (2 weeks ago when the news broke) .... It's always a good thing to have another National Champion on the bench! pic to the left I took at the 2010 CTC event. pic below I took at the Duke vs. Findlay 11/3/09 during the 09/10 Championship run.

That is all for now! :)
Tarik Black come on down! We are waiting for you! ![]() In the past few days there have been rumors out there flying around about Jon Scheyer possibly coming back to Duke to be an assistant with the basketball program. It has caused a lot of excitement the past few days for Duke fans. Now it is being reported that the deal is done! I myself, am glad to see Scheyer back on the bench working with the Duke team. Although he may have been seen as a quiet warrior when he played, I think he can bring his intensity and skills to help Duke basketball continue to excel! The guy had one of the best assist to turnover ratios (lead the nation with a 4.8-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio) in the NCAA playing at the point guard spot for the 2010 National Championship team when he was a natural shooting guard! If anybody knows how to adapt and excel at it, it would be Jon! Jon is a welcome addition to the Duke Basketball staff! It's always a good thing to have another National Champion on the bench! Photo from the 2009 Coaches Clinic. ![]() I'm excited about the news yesterday that Andre Dawkins will return to play for Duke for the 2013/2014 season after taking a year off! Glad to see he has taken time for himself and is ready to come back! Andre was a big reason Duke won it all in 2010 when he hit 2 crucial 3 pointers in the NCAA tournament Elite 8 game vs. Baylor in the 1st half to help Duke stay in the game. Photo to the left I took at the Duke vs. UNCG game on 12/19/11 at Cameron from Section 19... 1st row. Photo below I took at CTC in 2010 of Dre in the dunk contest part of CTC. Well...overall Duke had a good season! I'm proud of them reaching the Elite 8. And hey... they loss to the team that is the National Champions. Duke had a crazy tough schedule this season in which (during the season) they beat the 2013 national champions...Louisville, they beat the 2012 national champions...Kentucky, and they swept the 2009 national champions...UNC! Mason, Seth, and Ryan will be missed but never forgotten! They were a part of the 2010 national championship..I will never forget that! Yes I count Curry a team member that year even with the sit out due to transfer.
Now that the off season has begun, things start to get quiet on most Duke sites except for recruiting. I just want to thank everybody that has checked out my website since it's beginning in late November. It has been a pleasure documenting my trips and experiences at the games, clinics, and CTC! A special shout out to Jim from Duke Report for letting me write 6 articles over the season about the fan experience. You can view those articles by going to the top of this page and clicking the tab "more", then clicking the tab "articles by Skeelow". Also I shot several short videos at the games and events and have them loaded to Youtube. The videos include tip offs at home and away games, cheers and chants by the Crazies, etc.. You can check out my videos by going to the top of this page and clicking on the tab "more" then clicking on the tab "Duke Videos". The highlight for me this season was finally being able to go to my 1st Duke vs. Unc game at Cameron! As many know that is one of the toughest tickets in all of sports! There is a reason students camp out 30 + days for that game! I wrote an article for Duke Report about that experience. You can find it under the tab "articles by Skeelow". Also... I created about a 22 minute video composed of several short videos I shot with a basic Sony camera and iphone 5 documenting the Duke Unc game experience. It includes interviews with the Crazies, Crazies chants and cheers, and the bonfire after the win. You can find it at the top of my page under the tab "Duke vs.Unc The Fan Experience". Things will slow down this off season as I myself take to water related activities such as body boarding at the beach, kayaking rivers, and jet skiing at the lake. However...check back to this site as I plan to make 1 maybe more trips down to Duke this summer. Also this year I hope to make the NC-ProAm. And "if" Jabari Parker plays in the Pro-Am you can bet I will do my best to see at the least 1 game of this summer league. Thanks again for the support and views this site has received!!! I was shocked at the record number of views this site got after the Duke Unc game with the updates, article, and video we put up from the game. I am still amazed at the number of daily views this site is still getting in the off season. Thank you, it has been a good run this year and we hope to do it again next season! Have fun this summer, God bless, and Go Duke! |
